Rural road Safety Demonstration Project
![]()
On Thursday 23rd April 2009 Norfolk County Council in conjuction with the Safety Camera Partnership and the children of Stalham Junior School launched the “Caring About Rural Speed” campaign.
The aims of the campaign is to get villagers in north-east Norfolk involved in encouraging drivers to reduce their speed and to move more slowly through their communities. Posters on village notice boards, wheelie bin stickers and an education programme are part of the measures which will be introduced. Children in schools will be encouraged to speak to their parents about the dangers of speed following educational talks within schools.
A new Rural Speed van was launched and has been kitted out with flashing speed and “slow down” signs which emanate through the rear windows.
